Privacy policy
NewsAndWins is an invitation-only workspace for service teams.
Effective October 11, 2026 · Applies to the NewsAndWins website and mobile app.
Some optional features depend on your app version and your team’s configuration. Describing a feature here does not mean it is enabled on every device.
Who operates NewsAndWins
NewsAndWins is operated by an individual based in Florida, United States. NewsAndWins is the service name; it is not a claim that a separate limited-liability company exists. The legal operator’s details are available through the contact below and are identified in any separately executed business agreement. For privacy questions or requests, contact support@newsandwins.com. Your employer or team administrator also decides which work information is entered into your team’s workspace and who is invited.
Information used to provide the service
- Accounts and teams: display names, administrator email addresses, optional private technician invitation-delivery email addresses, invitations, user and team identifiers, membership roles, and access-code records. Technician accounts use an internal login identifier; technicians do not need to provide a personal email address.
- Work content: messages, photos, voice recordings, documents, announcements, meeting notes, actions, calendar events and company branding that team members upload or enter. In versions with Recognition, this also includes team thank-you posts, their recipients, comments, reactions, and administrator-awarded badges with their label, reason and optional expiry.
- Responses and activity: message-read status, announcement acknowledgements, event responses, notification-read status and the timestamps needed to sync your workspace.
- Optional profile details: birthday month and day, and work-start date, when entered in a profile. In app versions supporting profile photos, you can choose a photo for each team; it is visible to that team in your profile and chat, not published as a public image. You can replace or remove it from You. Removed photos are cleared from teammates’ saved app data on their next successful sync; while offline, cached photos are inaccessible once the offline-access period expires. Profile photos are personal account data and are removed during account deletion, not retained as shared team records.
- Assigned location reminders: the administrator-entered service address, destination coordinates and radius, assigned technician, selected date and time window, instructions and explicit acknowledgement. These are service destinations, not a record of the technician’s movements.
- Devices and operation: a device installation identifier, notification token, platform, app version and build where reported by the installed version, delivery receipts, errors and service logs needed for access control, notifications, security and troubleshooting.
- Support: the contact details, message and attachments you choose to send when asking for help.
We use this information to provide team communication, maintain access controls, sync content, deliver notifications, respond to support requests and address misuse. NewsAndWins does not include advertising or a data-broker integration.
Who can see team information
Members can see content made available to their workspace or conversations. Private conversations are limited to their participants in the app; being an administrator alone does not grant access to another private conversation. Administrators can see available read and acknowledgement records for content they are authorized to access.
The service operator and infrastructure providers process stored information as needed to run, secure and support the service, subject to applicable law and access controls. This is not permission for unrestricted reading or disclosure of private communications. NewsAndWins is not end-to-end encrypted. Do not use it to share passwords, payment-card details or information your organization has not authorized you to share.
Message reports
When you explicitly confirm a message report, you share the selected message and its attachments, your account and team identifiers, the reason, and any details you enter with designated NewsAndWins support. This does not expose the rest of a private conversation or give ordinary team administrators access to it. Report details do not appear in the team workspace or ordinary notifications.
Support may review the selected content and hide that message or dismiss the report. Ordinary in-app reports reference the original message rather than automatically creating a separate evidence copy. Applicable law may require separate preservation in particular cases; the ordinary report feature is not a legal-hold system. The original content may become unavailable if it changes, is removed, or its author or reporter requests account deletion. A short-lived attachment link already issued or a downloaded copy cannot be recalled instantly. A report receipt confirms receipt, not that a human has reviewed it.
Permissions and weather
Camera, photo selection and microphone access are used when you choose to capture or attach content. You can control these permissions, and notification permissions, in your device settings.
If you allow location access for weather, the app obtains your location while in use and rounds the coordinates to two decimal places before making direct requests to US NOAA/National Weather Service services: api.weather.gov for forecasts and mapservices.weather.noaa.gov for radar-based rainfall estimates. These services receive the requests, including the rounded location and ordinary network information such as your IP address. The forecasts, rainfall estimates and rounded location may be cached on your device. The weather feature does not upload your location to your team or continuously track your movements in the background.
In versions with the optional lightning test, tapping Check lightning sends a fresh location rounded to two decimal places through NewsAndWins’s authenticated server to Vaisala Xweather. NewsAndWins checks your team access and keeps limited account-linked usage counters to enforce the test allowance. The lightning feature does not save your coordinates or returned lightning observations in the team database, share them with team administrators, or monitor your location in the background. Xweather receives the rounded location and server network information, not your name, account identifier, team content or phone’s IP address from this request. Infrastructure and weather providers may keep their own operational logs. A reading covers only the stated recent period and approximate search area; it expires when the provider’s validity period ends.
Weather is informational and may be delayed or unavailable. It is not an emergency-warning service. A missing, expired or clear lightning reading is not a statement that outdoor work is safe.
Optional location reminders
In app versions that support nearby reminders, you choose whether to enable them. With your location and notification permission, the phone monitors administrator-selected service locations during the assigned reminder window, including while the app is in the background. This feature does not upload your current coordinates or travel history to NewsAndWins or your team. Administrators and the assigned technician can read the reminder; an explicit acknowledgement is recorded when you choose to respond, not as proof of arrival or attendance.
Reminder instructions remain in the app’s encrypted, unlocked-device storage. To check a saved reminder while the phone is locked, a separate device-only secure store holds limited identifiers, assigned-site coordinates, timing, permission state and a duplicate-prevention record. That store can be accessed after the first device unlock following a restart. It does not contain your sign-in credentials, team messages, customer name, address label or reminder instructions. The operating system and Expo’s native task registration also retain the assigned-site coordinates needed to monitor these regions. Lock-screen alerts use generic text.
Turn off nearby alerts in the app or revoke location access in phone settings. Sign-out and account changes stop reminder monitoring. After local access expires, the app rejects further arrival alerts when handling an event; the operating system may retain registered regions until cleanup can run. Remote cancellation or membership changes require reconnection to be learned. Offline operation is limited to the current 24-hour membership check. Phone restrictions can delay or prevent an alert, and reminder records are not a safety or visit-verification system.
While an administrator types in the property-address field, address suggestions send the partial address text through NewsAndWins’s server to Geoapify after a short pause. Suggestions do not send the technician’s current position, name or reminder instructions. Selecting a suggestion fills the destination coordinates; the administrator must still check and confirm the property pin because suggestions are not proof of an exact location. Earlier admin versions may offer a separate Look up address button that sends the full entered address to the US Census Geocoder only when clicked. The current reminder form uses suggestions directly and offers manual coordinate entry instead. Choosing to open the pin in OpenStreetMap sends those destination coordinates and normal browser network information to that service; no map request is made automatically. The selected address and destination coordinates are saved with the reminder, but unselected suggestions are not saved by NewsAndWins.
On-device chat movement checks
In app versions with a movement-based chat lock, the app explains this feature before you enable its location use. While Chat is open in the foreground, NewsAndWins uses location-derived speed and accuracy on the phone to pause message composition when vehicle-like movement is detected. These checks stop when you leave Chat or the app is backgrounded. This feature does not upload or share your current position or speed with NewsAndWins servers or your team, and does not save a location, speed or journey history. It stores only a device-local, account-specific record that you accepted the explanation; this marker is removed during account deletion.
Technicians have no passenger override. If the movement check lacks permission, precise location or usable recent readings, composing stays paused. Existing drafts are preserved. An owner or administrator may explicitly confirm they are a passenger to enable composition for up to 15 minutes; this exception ends when they leave Chat, background the app, change workspace or lose the eligible role. It does not grant access to additional conversations, and no passenger-mode history is uploaded to administrators.
This is a best-effort typing safeguard, not a determination of who is driving or whether a vehicle is safely parked. Detection may be delayed, inaccurate or unavailable. It applies to chat composition in supporting mobile versions, not other apps or the web dashboard. Always park safely before using your phone as a driver.
Service providers and other recipients
NewsAndWins uses Netlify for newsandwins.com website hosting and delivery, and Lovable Cloud with its Supabase-based infrastructure for backend services, authentication, databases, file storage and the legacy website; Expo for push delivery, with Apple’s notification infrastructure on iPhone and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging on Android; US NOAA/National Weather Service for forecasts and radar-based rainfall estimates; Geoapify for administrator address suggestions, the US Census Geocoder for button-requested full-address lookups; optional OpenStreetMap links for checking a selected service location; Vaisala Xweather for optional lightning checks; Resend for administrator-requested technician invitation emails (including the recipient address and invitation content); and GoDaddy/Microsoft 365 for support email. The website also loads fonts from Google Fonts, which receives ordinary network information such as your IP address when your browser requests those files. Providers receive the information required for the relevant service and may maintain their own operational and security logs. Push providers process installation or notification identifiers, delivery information and notification payloads to route alerts to your device. Notifications may reveal company information on a device’s lock screen depending on your settings.
Browser storage and tracking choices
NewsAndWins uses browser storage and necessary service technologies for sign-in sessions, security, selected workspace preferences, pending invitations and deletion-status recovery. Clearing them may sign you out or remove local recovery information. We do not use advertising trackers or sell personal information, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. The site has no advertising-tracking behavior to change in response to Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signals. External font, weather, map and infrastructure services still receive the requests described above and operate under their own policies.
Storage, offline copies and removal
Team information is stored to keep workspace history and provide the service. Retention depends on the type of information, whether the workspace or support issue remains active, deletion requests, and applicable legal or security requirements; there is no single automatic expiry for all workspace records. Hiding an announcement is not deletion: the announcement and acknowledgements remain available to administrators. Removing access to a team or signing out is not the same as deleting an account or all of its content.
The mobile app keeps an encrypted local copy of saved workspace information and queued changes. Offline access is limited to 24 hours after a successful membership check. Removal of content on the server cannot instantly remove a copy on a disconnected device. Temporary document previews, downloaded exports, and copies saved or forwarded by recipients may exist outside the synced workspace.
For access, correction or deletion requests, contact support@newsandwins.com. We may need to verify that the request concerns your account and clarify which shared work records are affected. If you own a shared workspace, contact us to arrange ownership handover as part of your request, so another person’s workspace is not silently deleted. A request is not complete merely because access has been disabled. Any applicable retention requirements or limits affecting a request will be explained in the response.
Deleting your account
Administrators can use Delete your account. Technicians can use Delete account under You in the app, including after losing team access. A workspace owner must first hand ownership to another administrator through the self-service flow. If no successor is available or you cannot complete that step, contact support for assistance and an assessment of your request. The team and other people’s accounts are not deleted.
Account deletion removes your sign-in account, personal profile, chat messages, chat photos and voice notes, response records, reminders assigned to you and access credentials. Reminders assigned to other technicians are retained with your creator attribution removed. Shared team documents, meeting notes, events, actions, announcements and company branding are retained with your account attribution removed. Their contents may still contain names or information entered by team members; removing account attribution does not rewrite every document or make its contents anonymous.
Limited information may need to be retained where applicable law requires preservation or another lawful exception applies, only for its permitted purpose and duration. This does not give ordinary administrators additional access to private conversations. A request is not complete just because access is disabled. The status screen confirms completion only after the account and its personal file storage have been removed. Interrupted cleanup is retried. A private recovery receipt lets you check the request after sign-out; completed status is available for 90 days. Minimal security and deletion audit records may be retained. Backups and infrastructure security logs follow the relevant provider’s retention process rather than immediate per-record erasure. Contact support about these limits or information remaining in shared records.
Recognition
Recognition is visible only within the team. Posts, comments, reactions and badges are not public ratings or administrator permissions. Existing member blocks also restrict Recognition visibility. Recognition reports require your explicit consent to share only the selected item, your account and team identifiers, reason and details with designated NewsAndWins support. Support can hide the reported item or dismiss the report. A report receipt is not a moderation decision; ordinary reports do not automatically preserve removed content as a separate evidence copy. Applicable legal preservation requirements may still apply.
Account deletion removes Recognition posts you authored or received, comments and reactions you authored, badges you awarded or received, and the related reports and stored operation content. Deleting a post also removes its comments and reactions. Offline devices learn about removals on reconnection; already downloaded copies cannot be recalled instantly.
When supported and enabled, a new post or badge can notify its recipient with generic company-branded text. Every reaction does not trigger a team-wide alert. Recognition uses the same notification permissions and offline-access controls as other team features.
Basic text screening
The server checks message, announcement and Recognition text against a limited local rule set before publication, including scheduled sends. Text is not sent to a separate moderation provider. Rejected text is not published to the team; an offline draft or an uploaded attachment may remain until you remove it. Existing private scheduled drafts that are blocked remain available to their administrator for cancellation. Photos, recordings and document contents are not automatically analyzed by this filter.
Your choices and privacy requests
You can edit available profile details, choose what you upload, control device permissions, and ask your administrator about team membership and workplace-record policies. Contact us to discuss your information or a concern. NewsAndWins is intended for invited work teams and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information, contact support so we can investigate and address it. Administrators must not invite children under 13.
Requests, disclosures and international use
Depending on the law that applies to you, you may have rights to access, correct, obtain a copy of, delete, restrict or object to certain uses of your information, or appeal a decision. Email support@newsandwins.com with the subject “Privacy request” or “Privacy appeal.” We will assess and respond under applicable law. We may verify your identity or an agent’s authority proportionately; do not send passwords, access codes or identity documents unless we agree a suitable verification method. We will not retaliate for exercising applicable privacy rights. You may also contact the relevant regulator.
Your organization controls its workplace records and may need to help resolve requests concerning shared content. We remain responsible for our own obligations. Providing this contact route does not mean every privacy law applies to every user.
Information may be processed in the United States and other countries where our providers operate. Privacy rules may differ from those where you live. We do not claim that using the service waives local rights or supplies any legally required international-transfer safeguard. Contact us before using NewsAndWins for requirements that need a specific processing agreement or transfer arrangement.
We may disclose information when legally required, in response to valid legal process, to protect rights and safety where permitted, or as part of a business transfer subject to applicable protections. Private communications remain subject to applicable legal disclosure restrictions. We do not promise absolute security; if a security incident requires notice, we will provide notice as required by applicable law.
Policy updates
We will update this page when relevant service practices change and revise the effective date. We will provide additional notice or obtain consent when required by law; a new date alone does not authorize materially different uses of previously collected information.
